Happy New Year…or Unhappy Same Year?

by |
Business Business Model Mind Set

January is a time when people look forward to a New Year full of opportunities to change and to have new life experiences.

Sadly, accountants don’t have the same feelings about the beginning of a New Year like everyone else.  They are normally dreading the thought of the oncoming “busy season”.

What’s your New Year going to be like?

Will this be a Happy New Year for you…or an Unhappy Same Year?

I would very much like the opportunity of billing Justin Trudeau and Bill Morneau for the opportunity cost of revenue foregone by virtue of the government’s ineptitude and incompetence as well as its rapacious appetite for money and spendthrift policies as demonstrated since they became the majority party in Canada. Their unceasing fixation for broadening the tax base under the facade of “fairness” materially reduced my revenue as I had to learn and relearn their ill thought out law, rife with unintended consequences, coupled with deceitful policy rationalizations.

The only other person who wasted as much Canadian tax professionals’ time in my view was Pierre Trudeau, with his “wage and price controls”, “anti-iniflation rules”, and of course his rape of the West through his “National Energy Policy”.

I hear you Derek. It very well may be an Unhappy New Year for many accountants and business owners across the country.
