Want Your Freedom?

Today I want to talk to you about your freedom. As with most people, I’m guessing you want your freedom but I’m particularly interested in what’s holding you back from being truly free.

I want to talk about the freedoms for you inside your accounting practice. When I think about freedom, I always think that there are two parts to it. There is freedom FROM something and then there is freedom TO something.

Freedom From Something

If you’re not feeling free or feeling fulfilled in your accounting practice, then you’re likely feeling like a victim. You feel like a victim to your accounting firm, a victim to the industry, a victim to your clients, a victim to the timesheets, and a victim to the whole model. You want freedom from being a victim and you want to feel empowered. When you’re truly a free person you feel empowered. The ultimate goal is to get you away from feeling like a victim to feeling empowered, which is your freedom TO something.

When I had my accounting practice eventually I felt like a complete victim. I was a victim of three things ( I call them the three lies of the accounting model). One was that my worth was equal to how many hours I worked. Number two was that my clients were naturally price-sensitive to my services. Number three was simply that tax time just had to suck. I was cringing about my billable hours and I was fighting my clients for bills and I felt like my clients were price sensitive. They weren’t really truly valuing what I was bringing to the table. Finally, I was burdened with endless amounts of taxes in the busy season. I worked crazy hours too.

Freedom To Something

I finally decided it was time to move away from the victim mentality. I wanted freedom from the lies that I keep believing and instead, to move into an empowered state. You can do this too and here’s how.

  1. Determine how much money you make. You get to choose.
  2. Choose the clients that you got to work with. Don’t keep all those crappy clients that were a pain in the butt all the time. Imagine if you had complete freedom just to pick and choose who you want.
  3. Imagine if you could actually set your own free time. You decide when and how much time you took off in your accounting practice.

That in a nutshell is what the Accountant Success Formula shows you to do. I did this for myself and I’ve done it for every accounting firm that I’ve ever worked for. It’s about getting out of this victim mentality and the way that accountants have always worked. Do you want your freedom back? I think you do.

For those of you who really want to get your freedom back, reach out and give me a call. I would love to have a chat with you. I can help you have the work/life balance that you’ve been dreaming about.
